Healing the Sacred Child Poster
The Second Annual "Healing the Sacred Child through the Spirit of the Horse" workshop will be held on October 6th & 7th, 2010 and the first Medicine Wheel Model Certification Training will be held October 8th, 2010; both at the Pennington County Event Center located at the Central States Fairgrounds in Rapid City South Dakota. Both are sponsored by the Medicine Wheel Model to Natural Horsemanship®, based in Lame Deer, Montana.

Yellow Bird is dedicated to protecting Mother Earth. In 2006 Yellow Bird led by Phillip Whiteman Jr., along with the support of Honor the Earth defeated a referendum vote to develop Coal Bed Methane on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Southeastern Montana. Unfortunately a coal referendum passed.

The clinic will consist of the following: Introduction of the Model focusing on the philosophy • Talking Circle, discussion of healthy lifestyles and holistic approach • Comprehensive Presentation of the 4 Stages of the Medicine Wheel Model • Learn the Philosophy and understand the Traditional Concepts of the MWM and how it pertains to Horse and Human • Demonstration of the Model with overo paint horse “Sioux Boy” • “Hands on” understanding of the Model: practicing what we learned. The Four Sides and behaviors, what to watch for, body language, importance of the rights of passage • Working with a horse, ground-work, leading from the back • Working with an untrained colt, showing the negotiation process (fear, escaping, anger, denial and acceptance) showing how we as humans also go through this process • Talking circle (closing)

  • Take exit 114 toward W Glenwood : 0.2mi
  • At Mel Rey Rd, take the 2nd exit onto Mel Ray Rd. : 0.3 mi
  • Turn left at County Rd-130/Donegan Rd : 0.6 mi
  • Turn right at County Rd-132/Mitchell Creek Rd

  • Saturday May 16
    Phillip Whiteman Jr. will present an interactive session
  • 9:30 to Noon
    • Introduction of the Model focusing on the philosophy
    • Talking Circle – Discussion of Healthy lifestyles and holistic approach
    Noon to 1:30
    • Lunch
  • 1:30 to 4:30
    • Comprehensive Presentation of the 4 Stages of the Medicine Wheel Model
    • Learn the Philosophy and understanding the Traditional Concepts of the MWM and how it pertains to Horse and Human
    • Demonstration of the Model with Horse “Sioux Boy”
  • Sunday May 17 (you must have attended day one to join on Sunday)
  • 9:30 to Noon
    • Review of philosophy
    • Hands on” understanding of the Model: practicing what we’ve learned, The Four Sides and behaviors, what to watch for, body language, importance of the rights of passage
    • Working with a horse, ground-work, leading from the back with “Sioux Boy”
  • Noon to 4:00
    • Working with untrained colt – Visibly shows negotiation process (fear, escaping, anger, denial and acceptance) shows how we as humans go thru this process.
    • Talking circle and traditional closing ceremony
